Design instructions
The shields or sealing washers of Z and RS bearings do not always meet the requirements placed on them, so they must also be sealed with NILOS-RINGS. In cooperation with the rolling bearing industry, NILOS-RINGS type ZAV and ZJV were created to seal these bearing types. The purpose of these NILOS-RINGS is to protect against contamination; in particular, they prevent relatively rapid destruction of the sealing lip in the deep groove ball bearing of the RS design.
The design information can only show the installation of NILOS-RINGS in various rolling bearings in general terms and the most common possible faults.
Frequent possible errors
1. Particular attention must be paid to precise centering in the case of grooves, hollow grooves and recesses.
2. The housing is not turned out enough. There should be at least 1 mm clearance behind the NILOS-RING.
3. If the shaft collar is too small, the clamping of the NILOS-RING is insufficient; the NILOS spacer ring helps here.
4. Each sealing element must run concentrically. Depending on its design, the NILOS-RING must therefore be guided concentrically either in the housing or on the shaft.
5. With the design on the left-hand side, there is a high risk of the NILOS-RING slipping into the snap ring groove. A NILOS spacer ring can also help here.
